The ultimate family wheeling machine!!!!

Ya. Kids are getting bigger and wanna go wheeling with me. Not going to be hardcore wheeling rig , just something i can bring family into the woods.
Karl been telling me to bring it to Colorado when its done. Might be little cold without a roof.

Thanks. It looks little to wide in person, that’s why I got a set on fjcruiser wheels to go with those 37s.
Can any of u post up stock fj80 frame height from floor to bottom of frame front and back? Just wanted to see how much my frame went up on stock springs after removing fj80 fat body and installing streched fj40 on frame.

Those r actually karls tires of his 40 im just using for mock-up last summer to see if I should go with 37 or 35” tires. Thise r 37 on truck.

Keep the 37’s, I think it looks more “right” with the longer wheelbase.

Spent the last few weeks converting my son's room from when he was a small child into my new office.

Before pics:

Getting the ceiling back to white was a pain, but I decided the sky wasn't right for an office (at least not mine). This room is much smaller than my current office, but now I have a window, so that's nice. I also learned that a Spiderman FatHead sticker comes off the wall remarkably well after 14 years of being up.

Always use a project as an excuse to get more tools.

Figured out that not only am I not great at painting ... I dislike it too. I did fine a color that matches my Tundra though. Ceiling and all four walls and trim repainted.

Installed the vinyl plank flooring ourselves. Wasn't too bad, we just had to learn on the fly and watch a lot of YouTube videos. Having the proper tools helped a LOT.

Went with a shoe molding instead of the quarter round. This was the test fit before we painted it to match the trim.

Still need to tidy up the wires, but got the TV installed and ran ethernet cable into the room.

The desk is kind of a beater, but I inherited it from the original owner of my restaurant who has since passed away, so I have an attachment to it after 20 years. There will be some storage shelving covering the wires in front of the desk, just waiting until I stuff the closet with my wife's scrap-booking stuff first. Still need a globe for the light as well.

Almost done in the closet. Just waiting on the boys to get back with the last of the storage bins to fit the open space. I know the trim in the closet doesn't match. I was too lazy to paint that.

So I forked around with the leaky gas tank, which I think is due to only having 3 ill-fitting screws at the sending unit gasket, plus the gasket is hashed. New gasket $2 and new 5 pack of screws $4 from CityRacer. Ordered 2 of each, will be here midweek or so. Need to sand a little corrosion off the gasket surface, almost got a wire wheel out until called dad looking for an EZ out (one screw was stripped) and he reminded me to get brass or something non-metallic that can’t generate sparks. So I don’t die. Because the tank is still in the car, 1/2 full. Yup, got it.

So while I wait for parts, I’m finishing my online OSHA 30 recert course and working on this:

Had another pair of hands today so I got the trans/cases back in the 40buggy.

Cleaned and reinstalled with no death. What I realized is that before, the thing wasn’t seated properly and fully able to leak. It also likely was not square in the hole, probably resulting in questionable fuel gauge accuracy. Once reinstalled, I apparently have more fuel in the tank than when I started.

Picked up a 2013 4Runner for my son's best friend that is now coming to live with us (it's a complicated story) as soon as he finishes high school in TX. Anyway, he's 6'5" and didn't fit in an 80 Series, which is just tragic. He test sat a few different Toyotas and settled on the fit of the 4Runner. Pretty sure this was an Air Force Recruiter's vehicle based on the decals. They will come off as soon as the weather warms up a bit.

Yeah I know ... damage multiplier. It may come off, all depends how much Charlie wants to keep it.

Also knocked out the flooring redo in my old office that will now become Charlie's bedroom.

My son and I were able to knock this out in about 6 hours. Much nicer than the beat carpet and now on to paint.

New inner and outer tie rods and a passenger cv swapped out for a new one- a Toyota reman. Going to re boot the old one as a Toyota oem trail spare and return my autozone spare as a core. Alighnment was done by my Toyota tech buddy Pat at the dealership.

Also got around to wiring up some sick led lights- JK they are just some utility lights from superbrightled. I liked them because they look like back to the future lights

Also had Brian tog father over for some dueling Tacoma wrenching in my garage which was sweet!

Also put a new battery in the Mazda and put the glove box back in. The passenger side trim and glove box had been out since I replaced the AC last June…
