Whaddaya Suppose These Are?

My new 80 continues to spark my curiosity, bemusement and occasional consternation. The POs had no idea what the following two items are.

Item #1: A continuously lit red LED light mounted to the left of the steering wheel. It stays on even when the LC is off. Anyone?


Item #2: A wire poking out from the interior top of the pillar next to the windshield on the passenger side. CB antenna hookup? Anyone?


Obviously I can open things up and follow where the wires go. But what's Ih8Mud for if not to waste other peoples' time with stupid questions?

Red light looks like aftermarket LED. Constant red = system turned off. 2nd picture looks like a phone antenna of some kind

I know alot of people who used to wire in a constant red light as a deterrent, it didn't actually "do" anything.

The 2nd wire looks like the end of a antenna wire to me too....

That or fake security. I remember in the 90s folks putting in lights like that to make it look like they had security systems even when they didn't.

The wire looks like a coax/cb wire. Do you have an old mount anyplace or filled in holes on the inside lips of the hatches or doors?

Yep, working or not the LED looks like a security light. I have one as well, but nothing is plugged into it.

Wire, really does looks like the end of CB cable.... that was torn out.

It's a real security light; a port installed option IIRC. Some other Mud members have that system, there's been a thread or two about it before.

Not a Toyota factory indicator. Genuine indicators will look something like these:

The gentleman who posted the pictures will have the part number for those, probably committed to memory and will be happy to send you your choice with the exchange of a credit card number. Simply call the number in his signature line and ask for Dan in the parts dept. Then program the number into your phones memory for future and frequent use Or see your local parts counter if shipping to Canada is too high from USA
