Hi guys,

I know that there will be much guffawing and linking to other threads with elaborate discussions about paint colors... Even still, I want to show you what I uncovered on my truck the other night:

Untouched, protected from the sun, as close as I expect to factory paint color!

First, photo with the hump in place and then immediately after removal.

The color towards the top of the image is factory, as revealed when I removed the gearbox hump. The original Toyota weatherstrip and metal spacers were still intact, so I have very little reason to believe that the hump has ever been removed! The color below (more yellowish) is a re-spray from some time in the past 30+ years.

That’s dune beige.
This is a late-64 build, and in real life it seems a lot less beige than Dune Beige.

Here it is next to a white piece of paper.

I was going to say definitely white but here's a picture of my 65 fj45 that is white and yours looks darker. Maybe it is beige.

She's Arizona sun cooked patina goodness.

Here’s another place where factory paint was uncovered.

Beige I'm thinkin.

Just to let you know, On my 1965, when I removed the transmission hump, there were no metal spacers. I have never seen those.

Not Bandaid, not nearly 'pink' enough. Maybe Volcanic Beige?

First pic is of the original Bandaid on my '64. Second is the commonly seen paint choices for '64-67.

Still not feeling like those paint chips represent this color. Volcanic beige is close, but still seems really dark, by comparison. I’ll be at the garage tomorrow to do some more disassembly and see if I come across any larger bits of original paint in the daylight.

Good point. In my experience, all the colors I've seen in person or in modern paints from that chip sheet are lighter hue than the sheet. That is definitely the case with the River Blue I now have.

I have a similar beige-ish paint under one spot where a CB antennae was mounted. Makes no sense as this color doesn’t appear anywhere else on the truck. The remainder of my 65/66 is the factory Lily white. (Edit-this pic is washed out, the color is similar to yours)

More original color revealed! This is the backside of the windshield vent. This gets sandwiched against the rubber “flap”, so was protected against sunlight and weather completely.

They are factory had them on a couple of early cruisers, also are listed in my ‘65 parts book.

I may not be much help on the actual name or paint code for that color but it was popular in early 40/45s

Here are pictures thanks to Eltioloco from the first Toyota rally...quite a few in that shade of beige

My best guess Volcanoe Beige

Any original paint I have discovered under dashes and under transmission covers has never matched a factory chip. Why? Age....heat cycles (especially at the transmission), etc... Then take the fact that we all have different computers, monitors, and settings that affect the color pallet. The best thing to do would be to hold up the chips to various locations on your truck and get the closest match.

I was lucky enough to find my original owner - the guy who bought it from Toyota. Here's a picture of him with his new truck in 1963/4.

Mine was a 1963 model, but yours looks like this color, which all along I thought was lily white. But you'rs looks more volcanic.
