Hoooo... if, with your skill set you would do this - I don’t feel like such a slacker! 🤣

Dont fear, only lay it that thick so I have a nice base to sand on. If the next guy wants to cut and weld I’ll not do anything that’s irreversible. All my trucks are peiced and patched.

Best birthday wishes! I always enjoy your projects and posts!

You did the clutch right ? That is not a big as deal as you make it sound, the rest of us can't walk under the truck ;)

thats funny. Yes. I ordered one. Can’t bring myself to button it up without doing it

Happy Birthday. Keep up the good work

Red took me out for a 28 oz Porterhouse. It was a fabulous end of a great day.

Anyone that has torn apart one of these old trucks has surely snapped off their fair share of 6mm bolts.
Most of the tranny hump and all the gas tank cover bolts were snapped.
Luckily I discovered nutzerts. These are great but drilling out 10 broken bolts was tedious.

Those that have followed my other builds know how much I love Lizard Skin. This stuff makes a remarkable difference with noise and heat reduction.
Since I really don’t like the looks of spray on texture, I use it on the flat surfaces only where you won’t see them with seats, fuel tank and mats.

I got all the rust well treated over about a 2 week period spraying and cleaning and spraying again. It’s dead as it can be.

I’ve spent very little time under Weenie 3 other than when I changed the oil. This morning I got all the fluids drained and the driveshafts pulled out. Headed to get a transmission jack.

I’m going to have to spend a bit of time on this section to get all the mud out of the frame. Crap job but I want the frame clean so I can soak it good with Fluid Film

The dirt daubers had some serious time under here

9 more hours today.
Got my clutch in via Amazon and my flywheel resurfaced.
The clutch would have been pretty straightforward except that I needed to address all this mud that was in the frame from top to bottom. Just like on my 45 I tackled it with a bunch of screwdrivers, air and vacuum. I literally got 30# of dirt out of there.
Now I’ll let this fluid film soak in.
Tomorrow I’ll stick it all back together.

Piles 2 and 3

The clutch disc was not gone but the bolts on the ends of the pressure plate were pretty deformed. Overall Im glad I pulled it all down to be certain.

I scraped all the dirt and residue off the tranny/transfer. Installed a good new rear main and pilot bearing

Got a leisurely start to the day after spending the morning with Red.

I slapped in the pressure plate and clutch and got the transmission stabbed in a decent amount of time. It’s not as easy to do solo as with an extra set of eyes.
Once in I spent way too much time getting the parking brake reinstalled and cleaned up and adjusted for it not to work. The cable was resting on the exhaust so I guess it needs to be replaced. For now I’m not going back in.
Finally the fun part where I was able to reinstall the interior. Man, it really turned out great. I ordered a dash cap and some new shifter knobs to finish it off in there.

note the bucket. Even with a new gasket the drain plug is leaking. I can’t stand a drip. I get to uncork 7 quarts of good oil to try to make it stop.
I should have my exhaust donut and my new City Racer fuse box early this week. Once those are in it will be time to test.

Got my @Racer65 fuse box in and patched up the exhaust and the ole Weenie 3 fired right up and took me on a great trip around the loop at the house.

To say I’m stoked is an understatement.

I’ve got to get some switched 12v to the carb. For some reason that is dead. Easy.

All of the gauges work. Speedo works. Clutch feels good. Transmission is smooth. Engine is strong.

Brakes are weak as I feared. Overall this is a big night. Happy.

These pics are fun. I’m one day under a full month of all my spare time working on this thing.

I’ve been keeping up with my hours and I’ve got 73 hours of real, no kidding hours into it in 30 days.

That color for the seats, especially with a green truck, looks great..... another cool ‘rustoration’!
Jolly Good

I am always surprised when people say they do not have time to work on their rigs. You can see from your hours that it is really not that much time. Almost two full work weeks or 7 one day weekends to really turn things around and make a big difference. I always try to make a list of what I want to do and then figure out what parts I need and where to get them from. A notebook really helps with this. Then it is just a matter of where to start.

Great job getting this done quickly and keeping it real!
