On my 76' 2F 40 when I totally de-smogged and went to a weber it still needed to have a vent from the gas tank so I maintained the stock vent hoses but as of now they just vent to the outside. Not ideal environmentally and maybe potentially dangerous but it works. If you vent into the charcoal canister it will control the vapors/smell and the tank can properly vent. I'm not sure if this will overwhelm the charcoal and need to be changed often though. Another option could be to get a gas cap that vents and plug the holes.

I sent you a PM. To answer to charcoal canister question for others as well, the Weber does not have a provision for capturing fumes form the carb itself into the canister, neither does a Holley if you choose to use one of those. The line from the stock carb to the canister will need to be plugged. The canister should be retained as it will still function as a vent/fume capturing device for the fuel tank which is much more important.
