Recently drove my pickup home with the newly built H41, done by @orangefj45 at Valley Hybrids, and really REALLY enjoying shifting thru city traffic, etc....
Yesterday with strong winds and rain on the 580 East, thru the Altamont Pass, my driver side hood latch finally gave way and my hood broke free while going about 65mph......:censor:!!!

I was in the slow lane, so only cut off a couple vehicles as I hit the brakes and went into the dirt of the shoulder and came to a stop with my hood blocking the windshield...Since I have a ‘64 hood, with side hinges, it almost went airbborne as I grabbed it to bring it horizontal again :eek: and then decided to just put it in the bed of the truck with tie-down straps and go home

This all because I haven’t yet replaced my old twisted driver side hood latch.......my roof cap got smacked real good, though with a few blocks of wood and my high lift jack tonight:poop::wrench::wrench::wrench::wrench:.....it looks nearly un-smacked again

Word to the wise: high winds and old roof latches on the freeway don’t mix
:beer::beer:
Best,
Joseph

Wow. Glad you survived that one; could have easily been fatal.
