Way to install valve spring keepers?!?

I have a valve spring compressor and the forked end won't fit into the recess of the head to compress the valve spring so I can insert the keepers.
Any tricks?

Yes take a deep socket just the size of the spring retainer and cut 2 long notches along the side of it. Then use that as an extension for the forks. The long notch is so you can put the keepers on. Hope this all makes sense. You can also use a drill press to compress the spring as well.

I just used my fingers on one hand to push the spring down then placed the keepers in with the other
