is it a connecting point? connect it to the old pump and throw to the s**t house?

Nope, it's real. It's on the Toyota OEM F engine water pump I just ordered.

it may clip into the housing like an R clip to retain a seal between w/pump seal and bearing toward the fan?

sorry grabbing at straws.........
