Well Its been some time since I have posted on here. The turbo I installed on my 81 BJ42 is still functioning great. No problems so far. We have probably put 30-40000 km on it since the install. Now as a fourth year project I plan on building a water/methanol injection system for it. As it sits now I expect to have all the parts ordered in the next week or so and we will be installing it later next month.
I have sourced a 24V pump through a local aag store and have bought some of the required other doodads such as a shut off solenoid. Still need to find a 1-25 psi pressure switch and mock up a tank. The pump we soucred is a 1.6GPM 45psi internal bypass unit. The pressure seems a little low but I think we will be able to adjust the bypass to get the pressure up some and the flow down. If not I still believe the 45 psi will be enough injection pressure. I will of course included pics as we move along and also try and provide some results.
We are currently looking for a chasis Dyno so that we can put numbers to both the turbo and water injeciton system gains. If not a friend has a G force meter that is supposed to be accurate to within 2hp. He has said that it is really accurate when there is minimal wheel slippage. This shouldn't be a problem.
We expect the price of the set up to be around the 200$ range but might nickel and dime our selves a little higher. We hope to see about a 200f drop in EGTs at a set fuel level. this will allow even more fuel to be added.
Thought some of you might be interested......
