@Jdc1 do you remember the size you used?

I added a grease zerk for the spindles, it helps a ton.

If there was a way to limit and lock the arms when they are open it would be a major improvement as well.

An easy way to limit the travel on the swing out arms is hood struts. I pulled mine off a Lexus with the brackets at a pic n pull. They are easy to adapts and seem to hold up well. thread hijack over.

Stop by the body shop today and to my surprise they are already done with the body! Going to try and get it home sometime this week.

Not much has happen over the last few weeks on the 40. I’ve been collecting random parts getting ready for the reassemble. Next week is a big week as I’ve got a buddy coming into town to help me complete the wiring and hopefully get her up and running. It’s been almost 5 years since it ran so that will be huge if we can make that happen!

Took the day to get the wiring sorted out. We got all the factory switches hooked up and tested the head lights and side markers. Tomorrow we should finish up the Dakota Digital install and with any luck I might hear it run!

Today was a victory! We didn’t get her running today but she turns over. All of my lights are working now! I’ve run all my Digital Dakota wires and begun hooking it up. The next few days I clean up the wiring and continue working on odds and ends. I’m still trying to sort out my coil wiring which is why we couldn’t get it started so I’ll need to work on that as well.

Just when I thought I was out of the woods the PO strikes again! I went to install my turn signal switch and it hitting the brake peddle. I pulled the old one that came with the 40 an the PO cut and welded the rod to make it shorter. 🤦🏼 So I haven't had to much time to look at it but so far I'm at a loss.

Today was a pretty productive day even with me jumping around a lot. I got the rear wiring cleaned up and run alone the frame. We install the windshield hung a fender and I put the trans hump back on hopefully for the last time! Still a lot to do. I need to order some apron clips so I can install the gasket. I also need to reach out to @orangefj45 to see if he can help me with a low pressure line return line for my power steering pump. The goal is now to have it on the road by august 29th which is my birthday. We will she if the 40 cooperates with my timeline.

Excellent project- and well done! Mind me asking what foam tape you used on the transmission cover? Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I got the foam gasket from SOR. I was very happy with the fit.

Were you able to get the fitting with the part # I supplied?

I'll take some pictures and give you a call after the weekend.

Thanks for checking in.

Work has been slow on the cruiser lately as my honey do list keeps growing and I'm waiting on some more parts to come in. All I got done yesterday was making and running the hard fuel line down the frame rail. My next step will be finishing up the wiring and seeing if I can get her up and running. Hopefully sooner than later!
