When I bought my rig, it didn't have a washer fluid tank. Today I installed my spanking new OEM washer fluid/coolant tank combo I bought from SOR. Came with a pump & motor.

Hooked it up, put a bit of washer fluid in it and turned the knob....

Nothing.

It was only me, so I couldn't tell if the pump was running or not (I didn't hear it).

A minute later I noticed a big puddle of washer fluid under the passenger door. It looks like the hose that goes from the pump up to the nozzle on top of the windshield frame has a break it in?

How/where is this thing routed? Am I going to have to fold my windshield down to get at it? (hard top is on).

Thanks.

It is a pain if you have the nozzle in the windshield frame and it connects to a short rubber hose then to a clear line that is fished out and through the lower frame and then into the cowl then out the firewall.

The easy option is to remove your fake plug in the hood and install a new nozzle at this location. Toyota had it in both places and still available.

Follow the line from your tank and it should go into the fire wall on the passenger side, you might lucky and find a crack or the connection apart.

If you install the hood one I would like to purchase the "blank version" that should be in the middle of your hood if you choose to part with it.

Also take a look at my parts on ebay, If you would like any decals? Let me know what ones and they are on me. just send me your shipping address and I will get them in the mail!

Its good to see someone so excited about their 40 and you are in the possition to take care of it and keep it for a long time.

Best,

Shane

The windshield washer lines through the windshield frame are steel and they invariably rust out. I tried to clean mine out years ago after it rusted, without any luck. I ended up fishing a new plastic hose through the windshield frame. It can be done with the hard top on.

The hose from the pump to the windshield frame runs inside and just above the door to the glovebox. There is a check valve there. If you run your pump with the steel line in the windshield plugged, the pressure blows apart the hose connection above the glove box. Been there. I now keep my registration in a ziplock to prevent water damage. ;)

Good Luck,
Todd Bull.
