Hello,
I have an 87 fj 60 w/ 238,000 miles on it. It has a new cat, carb (act about 1yr old), and a new fuel pump. The engine was also tuned up about 10,000 miles ago. However at slow speeds, like moving in second gear slowly around my development it seems like it bucks. I have also noticed it seeming to buck at other times as well, but it is not as noticable then. If you nail the gas pedal it seems to stop bucking. But if you keep the pedal at a consistent spot, it bucks.Any ideas?

Thanks,
Zack

bucking

Hi Zack,

I had similar problems when I de-smogged my rig. I ended up replacing the smog gear, and finding that the EGR valve was stuck open (broken). I didn't have a problem after replacing that. I don't know how to test the EGR but you may be able to search for a thread on it. Others will have more detailed insight here as I'm mechanically challenged.

Good Luck!

What I wanted to say is "why is" not "was is"

Thanks,
Zack
