Warn Lock-out Hub testing? (1 Viewer)

Hi All:

How does one test the operation of Warn lock-out hubs on a Land Cruiser; after last weekend's trail run there is a question whether one of the locking hubs on my FJ40 is still working.

Assuming the differential does not have a locker (open diff):

Jack one wheel off the ground. Put the T-case in 4. Put it in gear. Lock both hubs. Try to turn the wheel that's off the ground. If it turns then one is not locking. Then you need to determine which one's bad.

Or, just lock both hubs. Leave the T-case in N and attempt to turn the front D-saft. If it spins then at least one hub is not working. If it stops then they are working.

You can also pull the hub off, like a 5 minute job and lock teh hub and see if you can spin the splined inside reciever, if it spins when "locked" it is shot.

Might not be bad to inspect it either way if you are suspecting a problem.
