The drum on my warn 8274 just froze and wont move even on free spool. The motor works fine just it wont move the drum. Was wondering if I need new gears or if the brake assembly just got tired and gave out? Dont know much about these except for how to use them.

Sometimes the free-spooling lever hangs up on the 8274's about a quarter inch out from being completely engaged. Spin the motor a bit and lightly push the lever the rest of the way in as the motor slows down to re-regage it.

(Also, the 8274 sometimes needs a little help in the free-spool mode for the first couple of cable wraps.)

the free spool was disengaged I was winching a buddy out at it was coming along perfectly then the drum just stopped and the motor kept going. There werent any loud noises like something breaking. It is the old 8274 like the 8361 or something.

your 8274 free spools???
i wish mine would :(

Less than 150.00us in parts to get the bushing kit for the drum, and a brake kit...a couple hours later, and you will be good to go.
