I am wanting to put unimog 404s under my 45. I would like to keep it simple as possible. I would like to keep leaf springs front and rear. So what i am asking. Is does anybody have any info on something like this. Build up threads, web sites, comments, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

404’s are set up for coils, and do not have an exposed companion flange on the pinion.

I think the only simple part of this swap will be procuring the axle assemblies.

7:56 gears is a heck of allot, I'm just making sure you know this

Mogs are 7:56 gears IIRC

There are two gear ratios available fer deVolvo portals. 1 is 5:99 and 2 is 7.08

These are pics of a BJ 42 from my country; it has Unimog axles with disc brakes, 5200 V8 engine, front air shocks. It went in Malaysia several times for Rainforest Challenge.

Last weekend I took part to Italian Selection for RFC and this BJ abotined the 5th place.
It is a very good car, probably a little "big" (heavy and large) for our kind of offroad.

Actually I can't find any more pics, if you are intersted I can ask to the car's owner, I know him and he is a very kind and willing person.

Please tell me your not thinking of doing this on the 45 you had for sale :eek::eek: That is one sweet looking rig, and it would be a shame if you did this mod to it...just my 2 cents!

If you "need" to do this, then maybe there is another 45 kicking around that is too far gone to restore.

Now that is a shame. True, it is your truck, and you can go crazy with it (and I mean that in a good way) but it was so nice-n-stock, that I can't believe no one would buy it!!!

For those reading, I think he was asking around $5000...am I mistaken??? I seriously thought about it, but with a '64 40 restoration on the go, plus a 25 hopfully to be here this summer...well let's just say that I don't want my home to look like a scrap yard, but, had the 40 been completed, then this 45 would have rounded out my projects.

Oh well, another one gone :frown:

I was suprised nobody bought it either. Especially being 99% rust free here on the east coast. I havent ruined it yet! So there might be hope of somebody coming here and saving it! But I doubt it!!!

Thanks for the pics and video Francesco .. one issue I always care in your competition was the fact your trucks never try much on a wall or heavy mud section ..

It's something like one try and winch ..

We here, what do lot's of mud wheeling .. try several times before winch.
