I am looking for a clean 1972 carburetor. Not one all roached out. It is going to be put on a frame off restore 1972 FJ40. If you have a clean one on the shelf I would be interested. I will rebuild it. Just one that looks nice.

Something along the lines of this one I just finished a few minutes ago. Belongs to a 72 with 26k original on the clock.

It is a customer's who is doing a resto. Hand cleaning makes all the difference.

I would really like to find one new in the box like my 1960's carb.

Interesting. The NOS D-40 I have has the same coloration on the carb body as the 72 I posted, while your carb body looks grey. FWIW, yours is a '67, mine is a '68.
I could not remember what year it was for. I was thinking a 1966. Not sure of the differences. Thanks Mark. Keep your eyes open for a nice carb for me.

66 and 67 were both replaced by the unit you have . Probably mfg in the late '80s, like mine, but without the plating.

Aisan was peculiar about pushing some production runs through under less than optimal circumstances. I have had several come thru the shop over the years that were made at a point where they had no sight glasses. They put steel plugs in the face of the carb.

What do you charge to rebuild a sd-40 carb? I have an original new oem kit for it

Telephone Gabe, telephone. I've got a couple of early dash parts to talk with you about too. Call me Monday.

Or now.

Mark, perhaps you have a picture of my 72 carb when I sent it to you for a rebuild ?? Haha, it was nearly un-recognizable caked in dirt and grease, and it now works excellent, performing as needed on the Rubicon this last July. worth the wait

Thanks for the thought Joseph. Unfortunately that would have been one of the pics that I lost when my iPad was stolen earlier this year.
