I have a 1976 FJ 40 that has been in pieces for about 5 years. The engine has been machined and partially rebuilt - bored .060 over. All I can find are flat pistons for the engine (I been searching for a set of domed pistons off-and-on for about a year).

In researching this board it looks like my best option is to swap the head for a 1981-84 2F head with a 61040 casting number and use the flat top pistons.

So….I am looking to buy a decent 1981-84 2F 61040 head. I'd like to purchase it locally in the Atlanta area (to avoid shipping). Does anyone have one they would like to sell?

I have a reconditioned head I bought from TAP Recycling out of CA. It has the casting number you referenced. It has approximately 5000 miles on it, been off the block for about 2-1/2 years stored in heated garage. I've been spraying the valve springs/seals with WD 40 when I think about it. Asking $200, located in northern IN.
