Is the VSV responsible for bumping up the idle when the compressor turns on?

If so, is the amount of idle that it bumps up adjustable or preset?

    Adjustable....

VSV in on firwall by smog valves...

Pull-up dashpot is on 'front' of carb.
follow linkage to throttle shaft, you'll see adjustment screw...

    Toad,

I assume we're talking about the AC compressor?

If so, there is a blue, rectangular shaped box with a circular dial on the face located underneath the dash panel near or around the glove box. It's roughly about 4"x3". IIRC, the dial regulates the vacuum advance when the AC compressor kicks in. You can adjust the amount by turning the dial, in turn, adjusting the idle speed to compensate for the additional load when the compressor is running.

Linkage on the carb controls the a/c idle-up. VSV activates it. Blue box (a/c amplifier) controls the minimum RPM that the compressor will engage at.
