One of the most interesting things I took from the talks is about the ngVLA (new generation VLA). They have the first version of the new prototype antenna and are working to do some initial proof of concepts. The new ones will be stationary, but drastically increased in numbers not only at this site but across the continent. I think the VLBA is only like 10 dishes now, and combined I think it will be like 250.

Jodie Foster said she'd have gone if I was there......

Is that a coffee shop, or a museum?

Can't it be both? I could see myself drinking a cup of coffee while discussing all the cool things I see in those pictures.

The owner hasn't made the atmosphere cozy for a coffee shop, and I think he oughta think about that. I would've enjoyed hanging out in that space, as I tend to do in most coffee shops I visit on my travels.

There's a very interesting Astronomical Lyceum in Magdalena, NM. I booked a tour once and it is packed with old telescopes and astronomical equipment and the manager is interesting and knows about each piece of equipment. Hundreds of antique astronomical scopes and related equipment. Worth your time.
John runs this unique museum, on Main St.
