Visiting western Montana in 80 series - Guidance please. (1 Viewer)

In September my wife and I will travel to Montana to do some exploring. The first few days will be spent at Glacier Nat'l Park. After that we want to get into the off road world for a week or so for wheeling and camping. I am beginning my plans and have done some research and purchased a couple books that provide info on 4X4 routes in Western Montana but a word or two from fellow cruiser enthusiasts who live in Montana would be appreciated.

I'm having a little trouble finding the appropriate phone number/website to call to obtain forest maps and info like; do I need to purchase an off road permit, camp fire permit, etc.
