I don't care for it either but it's just business ;)

the MAJORITY of Cruiserheads out there are honest and would not try to do what this guy does, but that's his problem. I talked with vintage a few times and even...(gulp) did some business with him before I figured out his game :flipoff2:

 Burned by my own stupidity. Yea, its business and he hit a home run with me. Problem is I was new to the scene and was taken in. I offered him the price he was asking then raised the price 2k! I still did it :-\ Once I got the truck, it was filthy, not nearly in the shape he painted it to be on his site. He even listed it as "original paint", "no rust", "no dents", and 54K original miles!! Guess what: It had several large dents (not seen on the internet photos), typical cruiser rust and I found service reciepts from 1992 with mileage of 92K!!!

I confronted him with all this and asked for him to accept the original asking price (2K less) and he scoffed and offered to "buy it back".

All in all, its a good truck that I am happy with and have learned an important lesson. Bottom line, in my experience and from what I have heard this guy is in it for the money. Buyers beware but thier enthusiesm, just like mine, won't keep them from joining TLCA.

New thought just occured to me. Just charge Gregg 2-3 times your normal add fee. He will understand it :D

That guy Greg is the human cornhole. He is pure poison. Some day he will likely do that to the wrong person and we will end up reading how some dude tracked him down and made him pay.

Droh - have you considered fraud charges?

Personally, I consider him a sinister relative of the troll from cornholeconnection.com... asti the human anthrax.

if it were just Junk complaining... I'd figure all is well.

but due to the amount of concern voiced, I have made inquiries of our ad manager and treasurer.

Those personally concerned are instructed to contact either their Chapter Delegate and if not involved with a Chatper, their Individual Rep as identified in Toyota Trails.

Voice your opinion, let them bring it before the Board.

but I will also note that at least one person has an issue with at least one advertiser we have in some form or another and no, we will not drop an ad because one or two people have issues.

But Trails, as well as the entire association, belongs to the Members.

I thought your 55 looked fimilure, sorry to hear you had to deal with that asshat

Landpimp:
where did you recognize my 55 from? Off the site or local? It was built up by Wardens out in Placerville. Some guy Ron Sampson owned it a while back. Have not crossed paths with any previous owners.

Fraud charges: That would be a royal flog!! I don't have the time or energy to go after this guy. Wish I new how to hack into his server and add a little to his web site.

Greg sold me a truck he had never seen, all the bull s*** on his website was second hand from the guy holding it for him. Major exageration and/or piss poor intel on the vehicle. My guess is he would pass the buck on to that guy. Guy is a charleton, really played me like a fiddle. I was in a "cruiser coma" just wanted to be part of the club so bad!!!! Now I am here, broke, but I'll bounce and get those dream mods later than sooner.

As for Trails and taking his money. I say keep on taking it. His money is green too but we should pitch in and buy add for Ih8mud.com with a link to some thread so that they can get the low down:)

I dealt with Greg one time, had a very good friend (who ended up buying a CJ7) interested in one of his 40's. He wanted something around $8000 for it as it sat, or $14000 after it was painted. I've been burned ONE TIME in my life, on my first car, and I was so pissed off about it I vowed never to fall victim again. Everything Greg said and did threw red flags.

Gentlemen; Even bad publicity can often times be good for business. It is best that we pass on to those we'd rather not see get screwed and consider our deeds done.

Best of Luck.

In principle that is true. Where do you think newbies like myself go looking for a cruiser? The INTERNET! I didn't pick up a copy of Trails at the grocery and see his add. Granted, I felt validated in my purchase having seen his add in TT. For that reason alone I would support yanking his add as I felt the TLCA was on the side of the enthusiest (as they are) and thus could trust people who advertised with them.

As a matter of principle I would like to see Vintage and Greg completely banned from the scene, unfortunately that is imposible. I would like very much not to be reminded of my expensive "mistake" every time I read TT. :(

Tough call on this one. No direct personal experience here except when...

My friend sold is FJ40 to someone in San Diego for 10K. Plenty fair deal, lot's more $/time into it, but we all know how that goes. Almost immediately it shows up on Vintage's website for like $20K or something. The vechicle descprition is BS. It was the photos that were stolen from my website (I set up for my friend to help sell it) that made me realize it was the same cruiser. At first I thought he was using the photos to sell a different cruiser. There was more strange stuff but you get the idea.

I was irritated when I saw the ads in the TT. But, I like to see paying ads in the TT and certainly understand the TT doesn't endorse or imply anything about it's advertisers. Stating so in a block next to his ad might be nice. Anyway, I won't take a stand on that issue (but dumping the bastard is fine with me.)

Meantime I'm glad to see this guy has been, and continues to be, exposed. Threads like this remain in archives and presumably come up in Google searches so everyone can make their own decision.
Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Example 4

I'm also consoled that in addition to selling the "World's Finest FJ with over $165,000 invested", this guy also sells credit (200% or more financing!), pays finder fees, has the "world's largest collection", etc. Pretty obvious BS artist if you start to think about it even casually.

The real question is:
Is the TT ready to excecpt his future ads for Viagra, Valium and Nigerian Bank money exchanges?

Here! Here! The more I read on this thread the more irritated I get. Problem is I have no recourse and it would be fool-hardy to pursue it. Hopefully people will google VintageOffroad.com and find these threads. It sucks to be one of Gregg's "suckers" who overpaid.

Still love my cruiser. Lord knows I am never selling her cause I would never get my money back!!! When I buy a 40 someday I will be much more careful.

Damn, that guy does have a golden tounge...how did I get so duped!

when I was shopping for my 40 I talked with Mushro on e-mail and started sending him the ones I passed on ::)

BIG mistake, he only purchased ONE that I lined him up with and he did pay me part of the agreed finders fee but the owner of the truck emailed me several months later and said he got a check but the truck was still in his garage and Mushro had already told him 3 times that it would be picked up.

The truck was listed on his website for $6,000 more than the price I passed on (using the p.o's photo's) when it finally shipped to his location Mushro e-mailed the owner raising hell & scrutinizing things in the photos and conditions he said the owner hid. The e-mail was 20 different things Mushro was unhappy with down to Tag bulbs and a Inclometer (after buying it sight unseen).

Tell your friends...tell everybody, it bothers me that I had anything to do with this guy and we don't need someone driving a wedge between cruisers and their new owners for insane profits.

Do we need to file a formal appeal to TT or do you think they are reading this thread. Hope Mushpoo is reading it as well. Recognize the piggy buddy? To bad I'll never have the chance to mud sling you on the trail....you don't like to get dirty. What a poser!

At least Tony ( da prez) is reading it. he's already posted once.

Lots of folks have had problems with one vendor or another, but Vintage is just all around bad news. Taking their ads in the TT does promote taking advantage of the uninformed, plain and simple.

As Gumby mentioned, Tony has read it, and I believe he knows more about what goes on than he has time to reply to.

Regarding TT selling ad space to Vintage. I've thought hard about this. I'd like to see TT get the money for ads, yet as several have mentioned, the guy seems to be partaking in some practices I don't care for.

I realize it's hard to expect that TT would be the police of everyone that buys space in their mag. After all, not every publication can know everything that all of their clients do. Based on the number of people that have griped about Vintage and the way the guy does not seem to care, I'd prefer to not see his ads. Not enough to not read TT though. Just that I'd prefer to not see their adds in our club magazine. I would hate for someone to pick up TT and think that hey cool, if they advertise in there then they must be cool. That's what happened to me with 4x4cornholeconnection and I really regret it. Then again, what I regret even more is that members of my local club didn't step up to the plate and give me heads up when they knew I was going to drop big coin. Maybe I need to start my own club. Nah - even I couldn't put up with myself. :D :flipoff2:

greg mushro's dough should be no good to TT, and really to sting the point home no one should knowingly buy or sell to him. He operates 100% out of the loop and I doubt ANY cruiserhead who has contact with 2+ other cruiserheads would ever (should ever) buy from him. He, does not help the cause- only inflates the prices on those trucks he sells (which are well beyond market value). This will create many unhappy people when the truth be learned.

There are enough liars in cruiserland, we need to slim out the liar-thieves (you know who you are).

Want to see how snowed I was :-\ Here is my "testimonial" on the vintageoffroad web site:

"Things went very smoothly, thanks for selling me the truck and not jacking the price because you had lots of interest. I am glad to be the owner of the nicest 55 around. Its only going to get nicer with time. Eventually (after its paid off) a bare metal up paint job will be done in original colors. Its a looker and I can't wait to park that thing next to all the BMWs and Mercedes in the doctors lot! They'll freak. "
D.R. - Chicago

:slap: :flipoff2:me! Man was I stary eyed. Wish he would yank that off his site. I thanked the cornhole for not doing exactly what he did  Man I feel like a dumb a@@! :whoops:

Wonder how many other of those "testamonials" would be willingly retracted after getting the "sight unseen" vehicle.

O wait! there is more. The day I picked up the truck in California Greg was visiting the guy who stored it for him. This guy sold the truck to Greg for $6500! He was blown away when I told him what I paid. Greg didn't even cut the guy in on his home run! :flipoff2:

So I called the guy later and found out Greg was hiding out around the corner waiting for me to leave. Coward. I was severly disenchanted when I picked up the truck, guess he was expecting me to be less than a "satisfied customer". Guess the guy doesn't want his clients to see the trucks and he doesn't want to meet his clients. Did I say coward?

I'll keep reading TT regardless but I might use the page with Mushro's add as toilet paper once I am done reading the article :D

If TT needs the money that is one thing but he and his business does not represent the best of the cruiser community which is what I feel TT embraces. Sorry this post was a bit inflammatory. God I love my cruiser though! :D

Hey Dan,

It takes a lot of courage to be able to publicly relate your experience. Kudos to you. I trust the sting will fade each time you drive what sounds like a great iron pig. Be assured the cruiser gods will reward your bravery and make it up to you in the long run.

Meantime, I'll look forward to reading about the building/restoring of your cruiser in the other forum sections.

Cheers,
