Good day, My 2006 HDJ100 started with VGRS light continually on this past weekend and shortly thereafter now steering wheel is 90 degrees askew. 3 months ago I had Toyota replace the motor to adjust position of steering wheel (no idea if 3 months later this could be linked??). My turbo-diesel was originally Swiss purchased where I lived and brought it to the UK 4 years ago. Toyota UK can't see any TSB for my VIN (they don't even recognized the VIN!). I have read that about 40k Lexus 470 and 100 series were recalled with either ECU or "snap ring retainer on intermediate shaft not adequate" that were producted between 2003-07 (mine is 2006). The cost of a new ECU is a shocking GBP 1700! Is there any way I can figure out if my VIN: JTEHC05J804034350 had a recall? My FJ40 and FJ80 are such a pleasure and been driving L/C's for nearly 30 years-- but the electronic issues with HDJ100 (first the bloody sensors in the AHS suspension failing so many times some years ago (removed and no problems with OME "old school" now), niggly steering adjustment and now VGRS. The truck is wonderful and I take good care, but trying to find a decent solution for the steering VGRS issue. Can't be driving grandkids around with a cock-eyed steering wheel-- not a confidence inspiring experience. If anyone knows how to contact Toyota Europe Technical (telephone and email contact)-- please let me know. Toyota UK send you to 'local dealer'-- but I need to get to someone 'higher up' who is in their technical customer service. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed
