This is a 1988 FJ62 in Freeborn Red. It is basically a stock vehicle with the exception of a Terrain Tamer suspension and 33 x 10.50 BFG KO2 AT tires installed by the previous owner. This is a 62 series, so it has an automatic transmission and power windows and locks. The vehicle was purchased in the fall of 2017 from a Land Cruiser enthusiast and fellow ih8MUD member in Florida and the vehicle was serviced by Odd Iron Off road, a Land Cruiser specialist shop in Thomasville, GA. Prior to its arrival in Florida it lived on the West Coast in Oregon. Clean CARFAX is available as well.

Since I have owned it I have only put approximately 3000k miles on it driving back and forth to the office or cruising locally on the dirt roads here in Vermont. It has been garaged every winter and not driven and is garaged at my house during the summer. It currently has 182,000 miles. The interior is all original and is very clean with no rips, tears, or stains in the seats or floors. The headliner is very clean and intact with one pencil eraser sized hole above the driver’s head area. The dash is clean with no cracks. All power options (except rear wiper motor) work including locks, windows and power antenna. The vehicle does not have A/C, but it can be added. As a summer vehicle in Vermont it was non-issue. The heat does work. It comes with the original tool kit, jack and owner’s manual.

It has no rust with two minor exceptions: a very small spot below the window on the rear upper hatch (see pictures) and some very light surface rust on the leaf springs. The paint is original and as shown in the photos there are some small rock chips primarily at the front of the hood and a few places on the doors which would be expected of a vehicle this age. Many of them were touched up by prior owners. There is an area on the windshield that was scratched by the wiper arm that is not in driver’s field of view, so I chose not to replace the glass. The scratch is shallow and can perhaps be buffed out. All glass in the vehicle appears to be original. The vehicle waxes up and shows incredibly well and I felt no need to repaint it. The body is incredibly straight with no significant dings or scratches. It has been babied during my three years of ownership. It comes with a full vehicle cover.

Maintenance during my three year ownership:
  • Replacement of radiator, fan clutch, thermostat and related belts and hoses
  • Replacement of spark plugs, distributor cap, and wires
  • Replacement of fuel filter
  • Oil and filter change
  • Removal of one rear leaf spring to soften ride (will provide to new owner)
  • Front end alignment
  • Rear drum brake adjustment
  • Vermont State Inspections at 802Toyota (They have a mechanic with almost 40 years of service, and he was amazed at the condition of this vehicle)
The prior owner in Florida performed the following maintenance and upgrades before I purchased it in the fall of 2017:
  • Terrain Tamer suspension (complete shocks, etc.)
  • Terrain Tamer front knuckle rebuild
  • Brakes (front and rear) and new stainless brake lines
  • Professional desmog
  • New exhaust (sounds great)
  • New shifter bushings
  • Transmission serviced (prior owner was going to install a 1HZ in this truck, so he had the transmission checked out to confirm it was in great condition.)
  • New Odyssey battery
PRICE: $25,000. I have about 100 pictures (exterior, interior, engine bay, undercarriage) including a number of videos (cold start; 2 minute warm up; warmed up and after a short drive) that I can make available via another link for serious inquiries. I'll keep this add up for approximately two weeks. Thanks for your interest. - Warren
