Vent window glass question (1 Viewer)

Finishing up my 1968 fj40 and wondered what to use when installing the glass into the vent window frame? It’s a loose or sloppy fit. I assume black or clear silicone type product?

Are you talking about the glass piece going into the metal frame OR the weatherstrip seal that seals when you open/close the vent window ?

There’s a rubber gasket that holds the glass into the metal frame

I found these to be a bear...went with the OEM rubber, was successful with one and ended up tearing up the next. I ended up buying another gasket and taking it to an auto glass shop...they got it back in but with what appeared to be a lot of trimming and sealant. Had to do over again I would have left well enough alone.

Sash channel with marine sealant worked very well for me.

Im talking about the glass piece going into the metal vent frame. @OldRocDoc what thickness of sash channel did you use, 1/16 or 1/32nd

Sorry for the delay. I use 1/32 sash channel.

I used black RTV, I have seen another person use bike inner tube rubber.
