AltFuel Veggy oil and Howe's diesel treatment = rebundent?

Right now, I usually add about 4L of canola oil into the diesel plus a bit of howe's diesel treatment into the tank.

Are they allowed to be mixed? I just read that VO makes diesel burn better and ATEB + the forums always told me to add that stuff in every tank, so I did both thinking it would be better but i'm not sure if those two will react together and cause damage

I've heard those treatment things are basically just biodiesel so in theory, I'm just adding in two of the same things right?

I just use the diesel lubricant. But I personally would not bother with veggie oil. And not in the winter at all. 4L isn't much to cause gelling, but I just don't like the idea myself.

I may want to ask an injection pump rebuild shop that question. I would not want any thickened anything hitting the injection pump cold. But hey I'm a worry wart about that kinda stuff.

I have heard that WVO system can cause severe damage if the oil isn't getting in at the same viscosity as diesel. The pump just isn't designed for it. And to get the right viscosity the oil needs to be at pretty warm temp. 180 or fo F. But again that is dependant on the oil's starting vis.

Yeah, I stay away from WVO. I just use clean VO bought in bulk from superstore or costco.

I have a BJ73 from 1988 from Japan. Are those with the ones with Rotary pumps which aren't as tough as the inline pumps?

SVO/WVO doesn't make a difference in what I am referring to. It is the thickened viscosity I would worry about running a wvo/svo system at the wrong temperature.

From what I read I heard the rotary pumps are weaker and more effected by lack of lubrication. The inlines are more damage tolerant.
I read this in a Petro Canada newsletter. Not sure the effect of running thicker oil into rotary what would happen.

This is speculation. I would call an injection shop to see if they have any better info though.

true that Yogi. It is important that the oil is heated so it is as viscous as diesel. If not it will coat the injector. It will also burn up your lift pump.

How would one go about mixing VO with diesel in a fuel container properly?

I was thinking to add in VO and pump in diesel so as the diesel pours in, would that sufficiently mix the diesel with VO or would further mixing be required with a slender stick or something?

I think he means in a bucket kinda thing. SO 4L of veg and 4L of diesel, mix thoroughly and pour into the tank while fueling.

So a 10L jerry can would work. Put in the mix and shake it lots.........

I would not go poking a stick into the tank to try to mix.,.... LOL right thru the rust.
