I'm looking for a decent Las Vegas hotel to stay at, and of course I've been there several times, however it was usually 8 of us in some cheap room just to pass out in.
I'm looking for something decent and not terribly expensive, considering I'm poor.
Making plans for a trip w/ boyfriend.
    Suggestions?

    Thank you :D

Last time I was up there, we stayed at Fitzgerald's. It on the *old* strip, and definitely cheap, but not shady or seedy. If you stay there, head down to the Bayou and get one of there many many many varieties of frozen daquiris -- especially good for breakfast. I'm keen on the White Russian.

I stay at TheHotel @ Mandalay Bay every year when we go out... (this year excluded... no Vegas trip for '06 :crybaby: ) It's a little on the pricey side. However, it is hooked up to Excaliber and the Luxor which are both more affordable. I wind up doing most of my gaming in those two establishments.

Try going to priceline and bidding on a 5 star, Vegas Strip hotel for the days you're thinking. Priceline's site won't tell you, but the only hotel that qualifies on their list as being five stars is the Venetian (which is really nice). I've heard of people getting rooms there for around 100 bucks (mine was a little more ... like 120/nt) which is probably at least half off the going rate. Still not super cheap, but it's pretty dang nice over there...

    I'd suggest:

    . Monte-Carlo - fairly new and decent price (read < $100 avg / day)
. MGM - nice and affordable
. Rio - not on the main strip; but lots of free shows/activities - plus it has the best buffet in LV (the Seafood one).

I've stayed at the Sahara (north strip), the Luxor and Excaliber. The Luxor was by far the nicest of those, Sahara was the most ghetto, but none were horrible.

Not sure price-wise what you're looking for, but I do know that the best deals I have found were at www.i4vegas.com, side-by-side comparison saved us $20/night compared to expedia and travelocity, so might want to look there...

Also as I'm sure you know, off-days are ALOT cheaper, so if you can travel mid-week you can stay and much nicer places for alot cheaper, Fri/Sat are their money making days...

    Good luck...

Last time we stayed at the Sahara, and that will be the last time. Its not quite as WalMart as the Stratosphere, but the NASCAR theme and its accompanying patrons were more than I could handle.

Next time it will be Treasure Island or the Luxor, just to be more central on the strip.

By the way, check out the car museum at the Imperial Palace. 427 SC Cobra, an armored Rolls Royce, and a Popemobile, what more could you want?

GF and I are young (mid-late 20s) and last time we were down there we were semi poor.. Ended up finding literally an awesome room (by far the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed at, aboutr 1200 sq. ft. and it was brand new) at a place behind Harrah's (if I remember correctly - whatever the blue one is with the really long escalators in) called the Tuscany Inn & Suites. It is also a small Casino, right off the strip about a block or so.. I think the room was maybe $75? Also by far the funnest casio I have spent time in is the Hard Rock.. We also stayed at the Quality Inn across the street from the Hardrock (just as good but 1/2 the price) for about $55 during the last lacrosse tournament I had down there. Downfall is the pool situation, you need a key to get into the pool area (usually enforced by a person) and the Hard Rock pool is awesome, the others (the cheap hotels I am mentioning), not bad but not particularly good.. We hung out at the Hard Rock but slept at the Tuscany & Quality Inn... The Hard Rock is also like a big ass bar disquised as a casino, versus the big casinos, which are big casinos of course... The Hard Rock rooms are expensive and OK, kind of small unless you fork down the $$.. Not sure its worth the $$ even for the small ones. So food for thought.. I have also stayed at the Luxor and the Mirage which were also awesome... But I think the Hard Rock is where its at for hanging out, especially if your not a big gambler, and our experience at the Tuscany and the Quality Inn weren't bad at all...

Lots of good opinions about Vegas in the thread.

Woody just likes casa-de-mace because of the waitress/cleaning girl :flipoff2:

What is your definition of "cheap"??

And, what did you want to do while you are here???

I always use priceline.com for hotels. It works great all the time.
Last month my wife and I stayed 2 nights in San Francisco at a boutique hotel for $90 a night. Hard to beat.

When you go to priceline, make sure you click on Name your Price.

Would recommend Hotels.com . Went to Orlando for a convention and booked thru them since the hotels that were associated with the convention had no vacancies. Got the room right on International Drive for 1/3 the cost of the hotels that the convention folks recommended. Did not have to bid and got a virtual tour of the hotel before I booked.

That's why you do that five star trick... the Venetian is the only hotel you can get if you do that for Vegas.

Go to betterbidding.com to see what hotels people have wound up with on Priceline. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect/watch out for/etc.

I was scared the first time I used it, now I use it all the time. It's great for rental cars, too.. usually end up getting cars for around 16 bucks a day wherever...
