Hello all! I'm not new to mud but I'm definitely going to be new to Las Vegas! My next duty assignment will take me from Germany to Las Vegas this summer (July). I've always wanted to be stationed out west and it finally happened.

I'm married with two sons, 7 and 9. We will be looking to rent... Suggestions and guidance are absolutely welcomed! Things like crime rates, best schools, etc. I will actually work about 5 miles west of the air base. I have two land cruisers and my wife's Touareg.

I really hope that there is an active LC community in the Las Vegas area. We hope to become a part of it!

Henderson/green valley area has a few really good schools and pretty low crime rate and a ton of parks. Everything is close to wheel out here and there is an abundance of it out here. The NW side of town by red rocks is pretty nice, decent schools and scenery but would be a huge commute if you're working in that area. This forum isn't very active but there is an active LC group if I'm not mistaken. Haven't met up yet with them but hope to soon one day. But yeah..WELCOME!! When you get to town PM me. I roll around in a 100 and like to go out and wheel when I can.

Cool. Thanks for the reply! Maybe with the help of a few locals that are on mud, we can generate interest and get some meetings and events onto a calendar! Can't wait to get there!

If you're working 5 miles west of Nellis you are in the middle of a bad neighborhood. Look a bit further west past the 215 and Decatur. the neighborhoods are pretty nice and everything is available.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I've been here in the NW part of town since about 78.

I'd be interested in meeting up. Mace is correct about your job location. You'll probably want to stay around Aliante casino or west of that.

Well.... Just like my last two assignments previously, I got another email with a different assignment. Not going to Vegas. I'm pretty bummed about it. Maybe one day.
