I rebuilt my head and putting it back on. I adjusted the first set of valves after putting the truck at TDC. Dizzy was pointing just to the right of 4 as it should.

I then bumped the engine with the dizzy going all the way around and back to 4. The second set of valves are too tight to adjust.

Did I go too far? Where should the dizzy point when doing the second set in the FSM? Thanks!

Use the TDC scribe mark on the flywheel, visible in the timing sight window, to align TDC.
The engine rotates 2X for every 1X rotation of the distributor rotor

Set valves with Cyl 1 on TDC compression. Line up needle to TDC mark. Then stab dizzy and verify by rotating motor and checking where the rotor lands under distributor cap.

TDC compression stroke for cylinder 1 will show the rotor pointing to Cylinder 1 under the cap....which ALSO looks like the rotor pointing to Cylinder 4 on the head.

The last verification is that the rocker arms will be loose on Cyl 1 when you have the motor at Cyl 1 tdc compression stroke.

Thx! So when I do the second set the distributor must need to point away from 4. Right?

I know this isnt what your asking but Ive never used the Dizzy to set the valves. I only trust the TDC mark on the flywheel. Your dizzy may be out of spec or just be different and give an inaccurate reading for whats required in adjusting valves.
