Does anyone know the diff in VAIS SL2Vi VS. SL2Vi-P4? Their website mentions RES...does that mean Rear Entertainment System??? I have a flip down DVD/LCD, but I don't think it is connected to the front NAV or DVD in any way. An explination of the difference between the two models would be great! Thanks for the help.

I don't think its the factory flip down screen. Its a stand alone unit that has a built in dvd player and flip down LCD. (Of course it's hooked to power, remote, and ground) I believe the company is Advent, which is owned by Audiovox. Anyways, it is not integrated into the factory DVD changer or NAV system. Does the factory optioned RES work in conjunction with the factory DVD changer? I was looking online, and according to a lot of posts, you can't import your home DVD collection to itunes without using a hacking software not approved by apple. Maybe I'll just stick to DVDs.

The factory RES DVD on an '04 LC is not integrated with the factory front DVD changer. There is a separate DVD player in the rear that connects to the RES screen. Audio from the RES DVD can only be played back through headphones, or though a FM wireless connection through the front head unit to the main speakers.

Ok, you have an aftermarket 3rd party rear entertainment system. So if you order the VAIS unit get the one without RES.

You will know for sure when you flip the LCD down in the rear, if it comes on with the Toyota logo then it's the OEM Factory RES, if not then it's 3rd party and not hooked into the factory NAV.

Yes, the rear screen shows the same as the front screen. Also on the front unit you can turn on/off the rear screen.
