Vacuum leak through carb linkages 79’ (1 Viewer)

So here is the latest:

1.
-Carb was “rebuilt” at reputable carb shop in town, they mentioned that idle solenoid was “acting up”, but not much else for feedback. Order new solenoid.

-InstalI carb and immediately noticed truck ran better but not right. drove around the hills for 30 minutes and idled fine, drove good. Parked, and problem came back, no idle.
2.
- next day start up and get it to idle with Choke open a little, at about 1200 rpm’s. Adjust idle mixture screw and vacuum loss/no idle issue disappears! Jumps from low vacuum to around 20 3-5 seconds after adjusting. Tweek idle speed and mixture a little and she’s is purring (!!!)
- 5-10 mins later she cuts out completely. Figure this has to be a fuel issue

3.
-install new fuel cut/idle solenoid and start her up.

She spits and pops, backfires, and puts out white smoke. Will not run. Do not test any further. Scratch head a lot. Remove fuel filter. Find some chunks. Picked up new filter today.
-Removed air horn and inspected jets and everything else. Nothing found

Possibly bad new solenoid? Bad ECC? No red wire on ECC(mentioned in other posts) looking for info on grounding it or bypassing it.

Easy to disable the fuel cut-off solenoid, you probably have a spare by now, cut off the rod, screw the solenoid back onto the carb.
