Vacuum FD light won't come on... why not? (1 Viewer)

On the column Shift the reverse light switch is clamped to the base of the steering column. The threaded switch was for the direct shift transmission. That switched threaded into the transmission top plate behind the shift tower.

Oh yeah, the direct shift transmission. Matt @ToyotaMatt you‘re on your own on that one, I don’t have one of them to measure.

SOR sells the detent ball but good grief as I recall it was more expensive than it seemed it should have been. I believe that I picked up a used 4WD switch (Toyota PN 84610-30020) Switch Assy, Front Drive Indicator from landcruiserparts.net.

If you have a switch just cut around the top with a hacksaw blade and open it up clean it with contact cleaner. Make sure the plunger is free and moving easy. Solder your wires on and epoxy the top back on.

I have no switch to begin with... thus the problem

I climbed under the cruiser and took some measurements. There are 2 places in which the switch could go on a manual 1 piece case and I don’t know which one of the two it is.

The larger one is pictured here. It has a 22 mm head the threads are 24.85 mm and have a 1.5 pitch. When the shifter is actuated there is something back in there that moves and would actuate a switch.

I think the larger one could be drilled and tapped for a different switch.
