v8 and 5spd conversion? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys i recently purchased an 85 Fj60 from the month of may i have an lt1 motor and t56 trans sittin outside my house... has anyone ever done the lt1 swap and or is there a kit?? or mayb just a 5spd swap?? i think its called an h55 does anyone know where i can locate one?

There are now a bizillion 60s running around with LT1, Vortec, all manner of V8s. Many 5 speed swaps also.

The possiblities are only limited by your imagination and pocketbook.

If you are going to swap the lt1 in, I'd just go with a chevy tranny and then use an adapter to mate to the x-fer case. (Mark's or Advanced Adapters - did AA buy Mark's?)

The t56 trans is a car transmission. You may not like the gear ratios. You may want to find a truck transmission like a NV4500.

Get a '99+ dropout from a GM truck with 5.3 or 6.0 LSx style engine and NV4500 (5speed with granny low and 5th gear overdrive.... very stout).

This would be a great combo. I'm thinking about it for my rig down the line!

whats the gear ratio on the t56? I know there are several different versions of that tranny. ford, viper and GM versions.
