I’m about ready to buy new tires. I’ve worn out a set of KO2’s, 275/70/18, tundra wheels, spider trax spacers with 2.5” lift, spare in the OEM location.

I’m debating on sticking with the 275’s or upsizing to 305/65/18 or 295/70/18.

They’re $500 more than the 275’s for a set of 5, I’m also not sure the spare will fit in the traditional spot.

I realize I’ll have to do some trimming to get the two to fit, just wondering if the increase height/width is worth it.

I’d also like to do gears/lockers, but that will be someday in the future.

Any opinions?

Side question, not to hijack the thread, now say the spare is 275/70R18 and the rest are 305/65/R18 or 295/70/R18; in the event of a flat tire and the the 275/70 is now used, what’s the negative impact on the LC/LX? Ring and pinion damage front and rear? T-case damage perhaps?

I would look at the revolutions per mile of the specific tires you're looking at. As long as you get them close there shouldn't be an issue.

The 275/70r18 and 305/65r18 are nominally the same diameter, 33.X". I'd go with the 275 personally. An extra 1" of tire width isn't worth $500, IMO. Not to mention that there are many well thought out opinions that a narrow tire is a better performer overall anyway.

A 295/70r18 comes in at over 34" so unless you want to run a rear tire carrier it's got going to be an option.

Narrower the better. Stick to 275s
