Three of my OEM shocks a leaking on my 202,000 mile URJ200. I don't need to "upgrade" my shocks, but I want something better than the Toyotas. I'm thinking of Bilstein 24-269049 for the rear and 24-214018 for the front. Is that a good choice, or can you recommend something better, other than upgrading my entire suspension?

Take it to Toyota and put a new set of OEM shocks on, they are higher quality, will last longer than the aftermarket ones.

Bilstein makes great shocks in general. If I were in the market for a better-than-stock bolt-in replacement their stuff would be the top of the list.

3rd vote for Bilstein's. I have them in my other cars and they know how to build them to OEM levels of durability.

What does "better" mean? If it means durability and OEM ride quality you won't find better than Toyota shocks. That holds true with just about every part on the LC.

There's a performance vs durability trade with shocks. OEMs and Toyota notably tunes damping on the lighter end. This reduces internal forces and heat generated, and over the lifetime of the shock can provide longer life. It wouldn't be a surprise that higher performance shocks may not last longer but it wouldn't be from a lack of quality or design.

On my old 4runner, i switched from OEM to Bilstein’s. The nose dive and handling were better but the ride was crap. I switched back to OEM.
