I’m the process of changing the rear cargo carpet out for SOR vinyl mats on my FJ62. But I discovered a ton of rust on the rear seat. Planned on just pull the upholstery apart and cleaning up the rust and painting it. I’ve cut all the hog rings and now I’m stuck because of the insert for the head rests. Any idea how to get them out?

Thanks in advance.

Start rolling up the fabric from the bottom, and then reach up to release the headrest tube plastic inserts. They clip in about 4" below the top of the seat.

That rust is insignificant (in my opinion). You wont be doing yourself any favors painting anything inside the cab unless you like smelling curing paint fumes forever.
