I got rear ended several months ago. Damage was minor but it did bend a rear leaf spring. This funded an OME Spring/shock kit, which is nice, but since I got it back on the road I’ve noticed a vibration that varies with RPMs. It was a mystery until yesterday when I found that my radiator fan was missing a couple blades. Wondering how that happened, I searched more and found a broken motor mount. Right after I placed the order for a new fan from cityracer I realized that this might me a good opportunity to upgrade to a clutched fan set up. While not “correct” for my 8/76 FJ40 I think it would be a smart upgrade.

Is there a reason I shouldn’t do this?

What parts will I need?
Do I need a different water pump with a short shaft to leave room for the cluch and fan? And then will I need a different set of pulleys?

Or can I use the more compact, red hub clutch on the set up I’ve got now? There’s more than an inch between the fan and radiator currently.
