Hey fellas, just thought I'd throw up a quick notice to anyone that's interested in getting out.

Not sure if I'm going on either of these, but I figured I'd throw the info up.

OCT 08-09 - Naches Wagon Trail / Camping Trip:

Discussions

My plan is to run the Wagon Trail West to East on Saturday morning, find a camping spot and set up camp and then possibly go to the rocks (depending on conditions). Then return via FS 70 on Sunday morning.

I believe the plan will be to meet at the Enumclaw Safeway around 0900 and then make our way to the trailhead. I'm not exactly sure where I'm going, but have a decent idea and will have maps. So if the possibility of temporarily misplacing your current position terrifies you, you should not go. Also, if you know the way, but want to prop me up as a figurehead to take the blame if things go horribly wrong that works for me.

I'd like to organize a coalition of the willing to assault the trail. Rollcall!

NOV 19 - Tahuya Day Trip

User Log In

Super laid back trip to the Tahuya ORV. Open to all.

This will be my first trip out to the Tahuya ORV, so I would appreciate it if any of you Tahuya verterans could help with navigating the maze out there as I hear it can be tricky. We can discuss meeting time and place, as well as route strategy in the corresponding thread in the Activity Planning section. All input is welcome.

This trip is open to ALL. My wife will be coming along and has requested to do some driving as well. Bring your wives, kids, girlfriends, boyfriends, dogs, whoever!

DISCOVER PASS IS REQUIRED

Details:
Starts at 8:03 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2011
Ends at 3:57 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2011

These are from external sites (and planned by others) but they're open to everyone.

tahuya trip sounds fun, have to add the date to my calendar.

Would be great to see some fellow Cruiser guys out there! Meet up is 0900 at the Safeway in Belfair as of right now. There are a few new guys coming out, to include one with a pretty well built 200 series!

well, I am in (unless I have to work that weekend),
any body still using CB radios on the trails? it's been on my todo list for a while but haven't done it yet.

I run CB, a bunch of the guys will probably have it or at least FRS.

There are a few elitists that frown on anything but HAM, but they tend to be the ones that don't go out very much.

Count me in! My only problem will be deciding between Black Betty or Bluford for this trip.

jackzilla, how can we help you with that decision? I am sure you'll get unbiased recommendation from the board members :hillbilly:

Just take the Cruiser! Can I play too?

I had some last minute plan changes and couldn't make it. Please post pics of the trip.

Will do! I'm waiting for the Gallery to go up on NWOS so I can grab some. I took one random photo of the rig I made sure to get near during the run... the 200 series!

This thing was awesome.

That VW is locked front/rear and has a VR6 in it... talk about putting the LR's to shame :p

Overall we had 17 rigs show up, it was a great turn out.

Two more...

That Disco in the water had a 300 Tdi swapped in... very sweet ride.

Still looking for a good group shot.

Lots of fun had, I forgot to mention that this was the first time I've done much with Discovery's.

I've heard a professional adventure driver talk about the LR's suspensions offering more articulation than an 80 series, but I will tell you that the Disco's seemed to lift wheels like it was going out of style.

Everytime I saw it happen with some skinny pedal applied, all I could do was cringe as the wheel dropped back down, waiting for an axle shaft to snap...

The 80 stayed nice and planted. They sure are some sure footed rigs

(for reference, I took the same route up the hill in the above pic and didn't lift a wheel)

*EDIT* - attached some more pics, middle one is proof I was there, giving a block of instruction on maintaining a proper bow wave

New years day Olympic National Forest service road 23 run

Another NWOS run:

New years day Olympic National Forest service road 23 run

New years day Olympic National Forest service road 23 run.

So the snow kicked our butt last year, after 6 hours of winching we managed to recover all vehicles.

Bring your shovel (but dont let kids play with it)
Bring your snow boots/gloves/shoes/skies/chains
Bring your winch extension
Bring your propane heater
Bring your tent
Bring your 6 hours + of food rations
Bring your signal mirrors
Bring your positive attitude!

If there is snow it will be fun to try and get as far/stuck as possible, If there is no snow we'll have a nice drive across the foot hills of the Olympics and a scenic lunch at Lake Wynoochee followed by a trip down to find the old train wreck on the river.

Details:
Starts at 9:00 AM on Sunday, January 01, 2012
Ends at 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 01, 2012

Hey Ferry, it was great to see you out there.

I forgot I put this on MUD, that's why I was so confused when we first met :o. I'm not used to seeing other 80 series on these runs! Yours is awesome, man.

A few pictures from the trip:

(14 rigs showed up! Our 80 series are in the first pic...)
