I'm trying to take the back seats out of my hdj81 and I am unfamiliar with these type of fasteners that hold the middle two portions of the seat down. Does anybody know how to remove these without destroying them?

One way security bolt/screw. Google it

I’m sure you don’t have ace hardware stores over there but they sell extractors just for this

You could also use a hacksaw blade and cut a slit across one side then use a big flat screwdriver but those bolts might be a chore to get to break loose that way. I would order a one way removal bit I would think it’s a M12 (14mm head) once removed buy some metric bolts and replace.

Cut off wheel, make a slot and use a big screwdriver

Thanks a ton. I tried Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowe's, Harbor Freight. I will have to order one then replace them with regular bolts

This, or get a set of Irwin bolt extractors

Similar grip design. The right size will grab these and remove them.
Best used with cordless impact driver

Order some OEM bolts for front seats. Same bolt, ordinary head.

I'm guessing you have a JDM vehicle?
My hdj81 ( JDM) Had these bolts on 2nd row seats.
I don't remember my Aussie market 80 having them.

Its been a long time, but one of the 80s I had still had those. I did the same thing cutting a slit, but I used an impact driver that you smacked with a hammer to break the torque. It worked surprisingly well.

Our spend $17 on bolt extractors, zip em out fast.
Chuck bolt extractors in you trail tool kit.

Thank me later. 👍

I've used mine more than I thought I would
