Did 40 series ever come with an under the hood light? I never noticed until today, but mine has one. Looks factory to me. Its located drivers side near cowl. Has a little white toggle on its rear. One red wire running off back of it. The wire is cut, and i cant see anyplace where it might attach. Here is a pic of it.

i have the original light from the glove box. this one just look like it belonged there from the start. thanks guys.

looks like a cool little light. twist it an 1/8 of a turn and the front pops off and there is a 5 foot cord inside. need to see if i can get it wired up and working.

Not sure if the location of that light would be useful to see the entire engine bay being at the low point rear of the hood shining upwards... but if relocated in the middle of the hood shining downwards it would be benificial for late night roadside fixes.

See post #4; it has a 5 foot cord.;)

Chevy had a nice under hood light on the late '80 - early '90 trucks that was on a little reel. Works great.

Yip, fits on the regulator mount of the '79-'84 perfectly. I had one on my '83 fj40 and my '84 hj47.

this one is toast, corrosion everywhere and falling apart. did some research, this light came from the datsun, 240-260-280 series in the eighties.

i like the one 65swb45 posted up from a ford. the crank reel would make it easy and keep well. i will look into the chevy version too.

thanks all
