Bought this several years ago and never really cared for the styling.
Finally putting my motor together and didn't want this thing sitting on top.
Time to change that.

Cut some soft jaws at work to hold it in place. Since this was a cast piece it was not flat or round.

You can see what you get with poor quality aluminum and using the casting process.

Fly cut the top as smooth as I could, then let the magic happen.
Tool marks were pretty bad...scotch brite and sandpaper time!

Taped the logo off and sprayed the rest semi gloss black.

That really looks cool. Great work.

BUT.... that downey throttlebody top was a piece of TLC history! It should be (have been) in a museum....

So did you cut up the Downey one or make a new one from scratch?

About 5-6 hours of work at $?? an hour

So about $240 :)

To make one from scratch...yes...about.

You know your machine shop rates. :)

If I could pump a couple of hundred out it would be considerably cheaper. Not everyone has the same size or shape tho.
