Got a lot done (for me, slowly) this weekend.

Her radio stopped powering up last week. Isolated the problem to the harness side Blue/White wire (pre-splice). Now to trace it. Tested the radio and it powered up fine. Odd thing - her radio harness ('97) goes behind the passenger side airbag and mine ('96) goes towards the DS, from what I can tell. Maybe I reversed those years but they don't go the same direction that I have found yet.
no worries on the lights. its gets foggy here by the house and they seem to do the trick.

Nice to see Frank getting some love. On the radio harness i remember using the factory harness that goes to the amp to bypass the amp. I cant remember if i just ran speakers through that harness or power also. That may be why it appears her harness goes behind the airbag. It ties into where the factory amp was behind the passenger grill.

I cant remember why but i seem to remembering having an issue with that same blue and white wire at one time.

The LX has a different wiring harness than the FZJ80, from what I can tell. I am working on two new wiring harnesses now.

LX450 Stero wiring

Will tie in behind the radio and then send a 2 fot long section over by the amp.

I am having a brain fart and wondering if the front drive shaft flange bolts on 80/LX put the washer on the bolt and not the nut for some reason?

The FSM doesn't really show it and I seem to remember the washer being on the bolt vs in front of the nut like most things. This would of course be vs traditional wisdom . . .

Any help is appreciated

From Transfer Case to Differential:

Option 1: Bolt, Washer, Flanges, Nut

Option 2: Bolt, Flanges, Washer, Nut (assumed)

Thx , Eric!

New rotors, calipers and pads on the 4Runner this evening. As usual I recruited some good help, BIG thanks to @jfz80

Needless to say they were long overdue.

pretty!! we need a full write up on this vehicle!! :)

I’m going to post this up here to keep me honest with a tight timeline (needs to be done by Oct!)

Wanted a new hunting rig and never had 4Runner so thought it would be a fun one to use!

Bought an 85 (22RE 5 speed) that needs a bit of work to be ready:

New carpet and interior clean up (in process)
OME suspension (ordered)
Front axle service (delivered)
Cooling system service (delivered)
Power window regulator (done)
Clutch master and slave cylinder (done)
Body mounts (done)
Sliders (delivered)
Rear bumper (delivered)
Soft topper (ordered)

It won’t be perfect but it’s all still pretty much original, even the radio so that’s cool!

Looking good dude

Thanks guys!

Yeah I was pretty happy about that Jon, certainly nervous prior to pulling... It is relatively solid all around, not rust free but solid.

Also nice to finally have a garage to work in while still having a spot for the fun car.

Brett - I love the color and the graphics on that one!

I'd kill for one of those, I love em.

Got a lot done (for me, slowly) this weekend.

Swapped in 9011 and 9012 headlights into both LX's. Got rid of some gawdawful LED Hi/Lo's that were in Sarah's '97 (sorry Austin). Had to remove the housings from the front of hers dues to the dual battery/charging setup in it (much easier than removing that stuff), then the inevitable Q-tip detailing she needed to do to the now-exposed parts.

Her radio stopped powering up last week. Isolated the problem to the harness side Blue/White wire (pre-splice). Now to trace it. Tested the radio and it powered up fine. I removed my nonfunctioning '96 LX clock to find that it wasn't plugged in. Didn't matter. Plugged in, it just sits at 1:00...until you turn on the headlights, then it flashes in no discernible pattern . Now I know why it never worked since I bought it. Everything else that gets power through it works just fine. Oh...and all I broke while removing it was this...

Determined that the PS rear door lock problem in Sarah's LX was due to a broken lock motor. The motor shaft was just spinning inside the gear. Swapped in the one from my '94 for the win. Now I need to replace that one. Taught her what a JIS screwdriver is and also how to remove a door panel without ruining it.

Did a bunch of clean/lube/anti seize on stuff as I got to it (yes even on MY truck). Gonna open up a dead window motor this week and see if there's anything I can do to lube those internally. I've cleaned the master switch connections, removed/cleaned/lubed the window channels, and cleaned the glass but the windows still do what they want when they want as far as speed up/down go.
Thank you for posting the shot of the clock and vent surround. I didn't know how it came out. Lately I've heard a rattle behind mine and wanted to put it for examination.

It’s a lot safer to go in from behind the radio and press the tabs out instead of prying it out from the front. Just beware that you stand a 50% chance of destroying the hvac vent no matter what you do.

I did use a wrench to adjust some sheetmetal here and there. Pressing forward for Logan's Run.

Awesome! An SR5 with 5 speed, inclinometer, sunroof, and shade. Brings back memories. I had two of those way back. An ‘88 and ‘89
