Finally got around to changing the ignition switch on the LX450 and it did not fix the problem. I still can’t start it with the key. I jumped like I did before with a wire to the starter and it started right up. I let it run for a while and now not sure what my next step is. It has a new starter.

You dont have an alarm?

I eliminated the stock alarm 3 years ago and have a viper alarm in the truck now.

You font think the viper alarm failed? Try disconnecting it. It breaks the wire to the ignition.

I thought about it being the issue. I have seen the ignition kill switch of alarms fail before.

I will have to look into it. Or at least research it since I didn’t install the alarm.

I FINALLY finished my drop brackets to correct caster on the Cruiser. 3 degrees for almost perfect alignment (Camber on the driver's side is slightly out of spec). I put down a first pass weld and wasn't happy with it so I ground it flat and laid a hot heavy weld on the bracket. The Cruiser drives and brakes perfectly now. I wish I would have had this done before the workday :(

I was really worried about this modifcation, but I took my time and cleaned all my surfaces properly. Each time I mounted the control arms, did it while the Cruiser was on the tires. I also took pictures for every step along the way.

Even with the OEM alarm out, there's still this to consider:

Have you removed the "Theft Deterrent ECU" and "Starter Cut Relay"? If not, when the Viper was installed, some of that circuitry may have been FUBARed (you know that technical term, right?).

This is the only reason I would favor a Land Cruiser over an LX450; way too much candy for the nickel. That having been said, even a bad 80 is an 80 ;)

Is the ignition circuit different between a LC and a LX450?

Yes, the LX450 has the additional theft deterrent circuitry, outside the alarm unit. Some of that circuit is tied into the ignition harness.

I was unaware of it, until I pulled the info from TIS for @LCTarHeel; it's not as bad as the 200/LX570, but there's more in the LX450 than there is in the Land Cruiser.

Good info man. I wasn't aware. Had only ever downloaded and reviewed the Land Cruiser EWM, not the LX450 one.

From that is either the tr ecu or the neutral relay.

Exactly what I was thinking. Taking a jumper wire to the "starter out relay" should bypass theft deterrent for ignition circuit, then it's a matter of the neutral relay, which is easy.

Did the front before Christmas. Been too damned cold to do anything since.
Finally warmed up above freezing so Jolene gets the new back binders this morning.

There's been a shudder that has been driving me nuts. @Izzyandsue posted some good stuff on "warped" rotors some time ago. That was the first I'd heard off pad imprinting. Well, looky here right at the 12:00 position.

Purists will recoil with fear, but I have taken off rotors like that, use sand paper and sanding block (piece of 2x4), and removed the crap off the rotor and worked fine. Good metal sand paper, 220 grit or so.

No cruiser wrenching, but light wrenching on the Prius. Front brakes went to 123k - then the Prius passenger inside brake pad gave it up. Other 3 pads still had a good amount of material on them.
