I drive my '82 BJ-42 100+ miles daily and I need some help heeping it going.

1. I pulled off my EDIC and have been running it w/o for many months. The question... how do I know that I have the rear screw that interfaces with the venturi lever properly adjusted. I simply screwed it in until I felt a pulse against it (?) then backed off until I could rev the motor up w/ black smoke then back in 1/2 turn.

2. I have an H41 and want to put in an H55F. Can I just change the top gear on my split t-case to work with the H55F shaft?

TIA
Justin

Do you have an H41 or H42? The H41 is a non-USA/Canada tranny. I assume your truck is ex-Canada as opposed to ex-Central America which would mean that it is an H42 unless a PO has changed it.
To change to an H55 you want one from a later model BJ42 in order to have the correct shifter position. There are oiler issues for the 5th gear that involve the transfer case but nothing with regards to gearing that affect the transfer case. This of course assumes you have an ex-Canada truck with the split case and not a single piece case.

It is from New Zealand (12v 3B w/ H41 and split case).

Thanks!

Just a note .. in your H41 has a 16 34mm output shaft .. and the H55F have the 19splines 38mm output shaft maybe you have a deal there ..

Also I'm not sure but suppose you need to think also in H55F and H41 input shaft/clutch disk .. splines.

Your going to need a Pyrometer to set this screw up. It directly controls how much fuel gets in there.

I played with my one, did that exact thing where I dialed it till I saw smoke, then backed it up. Gave great power, but after I put on a pyro and found it was waaay to hot on the EGTs.

With your manual control, your going to want to ensure you are in the right place for run(degrees wise).. I have not played with the arm to know how to do this, but looking in the fsm it is noted to have it correct.

I actually would prefer to have the EDIC running myself.
