Turning to the left turns off my FZJ80 !!!

Im whatching this problem for a month, when I turn the steearing wheel to the left, My truck turns off, it is a FZJ80 1994 automatic.

any idea? :bang: :bang: :bang:

THX!

Check your wiring harness directly behind cylinder 6 in the engine bay. It sits right next to the EGR pipe, which can toast it and cause problems.

Do you have a battery tie down?

Cracked Intake tube.
Check your rubber intske tube for cracks , especially along the bottom.
My 94 started stalling when I turned left after I changed the filter.
For some reason turning left flexs the tube just enough to open up the crack and stall the truck.
Mine did it for a week til I finally figured it out.
Duct tape it up and order a new one.

I would also guess that it's the intake tube, especially if it sputters and stalls as you make a left turn. This would happen because the engine is mounted to the frame and the air filter is mounted to the body on the right side, so when the truck turns left the body rolls to the right (outside of the turn) and this stretches the intake tube. If the tube is original it is likely quite dry and brittle and doesn't stretch well at all, so it has torn and is letting in unmetered air and stalls the engine.

I am reviving this old thread to ask the obvious:

What was the problem / cure? I am having the exact same problem (1993 FZJ80), and am getting ready to check things out.

Mine did this, and it was a cracked rubber intake tube
Start there, I bet that is your problem
Report back and let us know what you find

possible ECU wire harness damage, where it passes by the EGR (if you have EGR).

I will certainly check that tonight and will report back. I hope that is all it is.

I removed the intake tube(s) last night. I type 'tubes' in the plural, because there were two sections in my hand when I pulled the air cleaner assembly toward me.

Repaired the tube using a mix of duct tape and gasket sealer (Permatex black). Started up, drove around the block without incident.

The problem with my engine stalling on left turns was due to a cracked air intake tube.

Good call, and thanks for the post!

Check the intake tube like the others did above
I had the same issues when turning left
My crack in the tube was not big but big enough to cause the truck to stall
Its worth a shot to check the easy stuff
