Turn Signal Metal Collar Thing Keeps Coming Loose

The metal collar thing (whatever it's called) in the red circle keeps sliding off (towards the floorboard) rendering my turn signal lever useless. I've tried gently hammering it on, but to no avail. I'm two seconds from applying some super glue. Anybody else have this problem? Anybody have a good solution? Thanks.

Purchase a new turn signal switch assembly, while you still can....

How about drilling a hole and installing a cotter pin through it? I did something similar before I replaced mine.

Hey, that's a good idea! I'll give it a shot. Purchasing a new turn signal assembly is the long-term solution, but funds are running short right now.
