the adapter is garrett footprint. The T3 I think.

If you need to make a manifold there is some elbow and link kits out there. You make the flange and weld the rest together.

Seriously for all the fuss...once you have the adapter is to just buy a 13b-t manifold. They are pretty damm sweet. They look soo stock.

If you want to make a set of headers, then take your stock manifold to a profile cutter. They can cut out an exact replica of that quite easily and cheaply.

As for the turbo flange to put on a set of headers, I'd either go T3 or T25. T3 is the most common across different turbo brands and aftermarket, but the T2/T25 flange is best if you want a new garrett.

the flange was $40 and no need to make a flange now. just weld the rest together.

I have a guy that will weld one up so no troubles ...and wont it flow better ?

I still may just buy the 13BT manifold but for now my goal is to have the truck look modifide ...

Easy to build your own...this is mine...approx $60.00 in material and a bit of time. Used 1/2 inch thick cold rolled for flanges and sched. 80 weld-ells and pipe.
You can see the straight in path that #2 port gives the turbo a direct blast and how #3 port is directed to the flow path as is the other 2 ports.

A little pricey . If it came with the exhaust manifold, exhaust turbine,compressor, all in good (great) shape then yes. It saves alot of time mix and matching . That would provide safe economical boost in the 8 to 15psi range 15 if the waste gate line was removed.

just my couple of pennys, 900 does seem alittle high

Also what was the tub thickenss and size.

Bolted it to a head when it was welded but I still machined the flanges after, just doesn't show it in the pics. It is made with weld ells, avail from any plumbing shop or pipe fitter supply. The tubes are 1 1/2 inch schedule 40 and the main runner is 2 inch sched. 40.

Im planning to put a turbo in my BJ60, but the junkyard told me they need a year to find a turbo. Can anyone tell me what year or engine model I should check for ? Looking for a CT26 turbo. I found one on eBay but the boosted air exit were pointing in the wrong way. Is a CT26 housing can be turned ?

Yes you can rotate turbo housings. But I'd suggest avoiding the CT26 and going for something more modern with better parts availability. There are plenty of threads on it here, try a search.

Bad info again, you really are a broken record. Check my turbo install, if the numbers make sense to you try it. 2 other mud members verified the performance numbers, so I am not hallucinating, the most expensive part of my mod was the manifold $400.00USD, turbo $100.00, ebay rebuild kit $79.00, and a couple of hundred bucks in fittings and hoses. The housing can be rotated, there is a roll pin to locate the compressor housing(cold), remove the roll pin and the housing will rotate, the wastegate controller will not line up though. The hot section will rotate also. If you are going to inter-cool the housing is in the best position stock, I will be intercooling mine later this summer.

There is also plenty of availability of t3 parts even though they came on mid 80's cars. I can see the point of buying something new vs buying something that has miles on it and if you have to rebuild it etc. you *could* have as much into a used turbo than a new one. There are places out there to rebuild them and plenty of into for a DIY.

Hello,
The only turbo that will fit on a 13BT manifold without an adapter is a Toyota turbo. There may be another turbo out there with the same mounting footprint but I haven't found it. An adapter will be required to fit anything but a CT26. There a few mfgs out there, expect at least 1/2'" to 1" in height added to the installation, hood clearance could be an issue. There is no detectable lag with my CT26 install check my numbers in the build shown on my sig line.

The T3 is not a single turbo, rather it's a family of turbos. They were originally made by Garrett but have since been discontinued. That family has become the mainstay of aftermarket turbo makers due to the large range of wheels and housings that will interchange onto the same core.

Lag is an often misused term with turbos. Each turbo and engine combination has a certain rpm and fuel level needed to deliver a certain amount of boost. This is your boost threshold.
Lag is the time that it takes to build boost from no load when you're already above this rpm.

The bigger turbo you fit, the higher your boost threshold which means for a bigger proportion of your rev range you have no boost and it will take higher rpm to build to your maximum boost.
Otterav has wound his fuel right up to be able to spool his large CT26 turbo, others who didn't wind the fuel up couldn't get decent boost until 3000rpm with the same engine/turbo combination.
He seems a little sore on this point, to the stage of insulting people who point it out.

The turbo I recommend is the T25 (also superseded, but the current equivalent is the garrett GT2052). On my 3.8 litre Isuzu diesel with the T25 turbol I have 16psi boost at 1400rpm and 20psi boost before the 2000rpm cruising speed. I have 100hp at the wheels at 2000rpm, that's approx 520Nm at the crank.
A 3B would be short lived at this output, but it shows you what the turbo is capable of.

I have turbo adapter designs to fit the T25, T28, T3 and GT2052 to the CT26 manifolds. Most of these adapters are 14mm thick. The GT2052 conversion has been done by Diesel42 on this board, but I don't know if his truck is on the road yet.

Hi ..

If you have a good budget .. do that Dougal recomends and go to a turbo shop/site to buy a breand new ball bearing turbo, that fit exactly what you neet ( full boost what ever you want on 2k rpm ) ...

But if you are poor like me and other mates here .. shop in ebay something old that function .. rebuild it and enjoy !
