Here again...
Like Tapage, I'm finally getting around to turboing the 2h. I got a used turbo kit, I believe its a Safari unit as ARB is stamped on the manifold and it uses a Garrett turbo. My question is in regard to this piece which i'm fairly certain screws into the oil filter housing. Why are there three lines to it? Obviously there is a high pressure line, and two low pressure lines, one of which returns from the turbo. But the other? Also, do any of you have experience using this setup, or have you heard any pro's and con's using this piece as opposed to running the lines to another source. Thank you,

David

Hi David,
I have not seen that piece anywhere before, so I am no help there.
But, the turboglide kit suns the oil supply from the alternator vac pump pick up. It has a t-fitting at the engine where the oil goes up to the vac pump.
then it dumps into the side of the engine through a pipe welded into the side cover.
this is a very efficeint setup, since there is ample oil pressure at the vac pump, and the dump is close to the turbo. pretty much the shortest distances available.
let me know if you need pics.

cheers,
jan

You are looking at a sandwich adapter for an oil cooler, intalls between the oil filter and the housing. The two rubber line run to and from a remote oil cooler(oil rad) uasually intsalled in front of your rad. I would guess that the copper line feeds the turbo and and that someone drilled and tapped it.

Ahhh, just what I was looking for. Have you ever run an oil cooler on this engine? Is there really any need? What kind of oil temp rise is a turbo responsible for?

I like the idea of dumping the oil into the side cover like Jan did. I'm thinking of either tapping the the vacuum feed or tapping the oil filter housing like Dieselcruiserhead shows here:

I wonder if I can use this piece to run a bypass filter instead of a cooler- sorry just thinking out loud.
