Ok, I'm getting a turbo but a thought just occured to me.

The exhast manifold on the "H" is on the drivers side (LHD)...

by putting this turbo on, the exhaust port is now pointing towards the front of the truck...intake on the back...

now is this gonna work??? or do I need to find a different turbo???

you can rotate the center housing 360 degrees, the turbo can sit above the exaust manifold or below it doesn't matter...

nice looking turbo. What is it off?

Yes it can be clocked quite a bit. I had to clock my cold side to line up, but then wastegate brackets then needed adjustments.

You need to stand at the engine with it and flip it around/upside down etc, with looking at how you could clock it. My guess is it needs to be upside down. But careful cause the drain on return oil still needs to be down.

Also you may need to have the exhaust dump at the front instead of the back.

As others have said, it is IMPORTANT that the oil return (corrigated hose) is pointing straight down or within 15 degrees of vertical. You can do that by reclocking the bearing section from the turbo and compressor housings.

Thanks guys! :) I love this forum!

It's an IHI turbo from a 87-88 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. It comes on the ford 2.3L engines, and a slightly different version was used on the Ford Probe/mazda 626.
From what I gather, people with the Turbo Coupe or that 2.3L engine tend to change to the Garrett T3, as it boosts more and spools later...hmmm...sounds like the IHI is a quicker spooler and less boost...thats two thumbs up!

I was most worried about the routing of everything, and if it was alright to run the exhaust towards the front and "U" it back.

I don't think I'll need to "clock" it any, I'm just going to make a "U" pipe for the turbo to attach to, the just run the exhaust from the front side and then back. Just wasn't sure it that would create any issues with performance or not.

dually noted on the return line :)

thanks

Any extra bends or restrictions that you introduce are potentially going to affect performance. Naturally a bend is not a big deal but a series of them might be.

Thanks for the pics tapage!!! that cruiser rocks!

I found another pic of the turbo...but it shows it completely different...so I wonder if the guy who is selling the first one has switched/rotated stuff around?

Here is the other pic...it looks like I could just rotate the center housing like you've said and then now I have exhaust out the back, oil return line down and intake from the front...So can you clock each side independantly as well??? Like the exhaust to point it down?? intake up?

sorry for being retarded...my turbo is shipping out today, so hopefully by the end of the week I'll get it and see for real...rather than "web-wrenchin'-speculatin'" :D
