I have a BJ44 and need an H55f with the B input shaft. Got one? I'd like one with the transfer on it if possible. I could even trade you my H41 if you have a maket for them with the real crawlers. i'd like one with lower miles than my engine if possible (207km).

Okay, I got an email back from Turbo Glide. all kits will be $2,390 AUD plus shippping. that's $100 AUD (~$79 USD) off of what they quoted me before.

TLC, can you meet that?

For you 1HZers that a better deal as your kits are more expensive that the B series guys.

I have no idea how the USA works for that. But in Canukia we pay no matter what. I ordered from US companies before and it always gets me. Unless it was made in the USA. Then its that whatever...freetrade thingy.

When I bought my ARB bumper I priced it in the US from a shop in Washington. He wanted 700 USD roughly.
But customs would hit me, brokerage, shipping, gst, pst UPS charges...blah blah.
I bought local from my Toyota dealer for 1200 Canadian including shipping. Same bumper ARB. 1200 is like 1050 USD. But I didn't have to worry about if it came damaged or anything as FOB was right here in my town.

So my thing is always try to buy local, and not internationaly. Where was I going with this................. :)

Yep Canada is one of the worst (nothing person with you guys I think your great :) ) But I can tell you that if I ship the same item to Canada as to Australia it cost more to ship to Canada and takes longer (usually) to get it there. And getting stuff from Canada is the same thing (if it goes air) I can get it cheaper and quicker from OZ. Go figure.

The other posts explain how individuals can get away sometimes without the duty/customs and me as a business never can.

One other thing, I have had several customers want me to clasify stuff I sell as made in USA so it is free trade to Canada, but what they do not realize is if I do that, it triggers the IRS (or whatever agency it is) to check my business status and if I am not a manufacture and following all those additional rules as a manufacture exporting I get fined (I did not do that but I have a friend that owns a company and it happend to him, so I would not even go there).

Yah it tough sending thru Canada.

I have never tried dealing with a part from the usa thru the post. But I will next time. I hate UPS. Everytime I used UPS I have been stung bad. Almost made me cry :crybaby:

I bought a fender(60 series non usa) from Sor. Price was 150 usd. Then I had to pay Sor 170 usd to ship it. Once it hit the boarder another hundred or more, with fee/tax/crap fees etc...

By the end I sat back, did the exchange and realized it cost me 600 canadian.

That was my rh fender. Later in the project I decided I wanted a lh fender. I really did not want to pay the same amount.

So I priced Napa in my town, they were able to sell me an fj usa fender for 265 canadian. SO I bought it an welded over the vent hole.

So I really try not to buy from the USA. Now I have an old 77 mercedes. And buying parts in canada is impossible. Damm.
 
I thought I would share my first bad experience buying parts from Canada Toyota Dealer (in BC area) this was about 5 years ago and I need a voltage regulator for a BJ70. Hunted high and low, and finally got refered to this Toyota Dealer (not any of the ones I hear about on here, which is a good thing). Well I got the quote and thought it was high but I really needed the part. so $277.00 Canadian was the cost they said it included all shipping to my door. Well withing several weeks I got 2 bills in the mail one for shipping charges and one for duty and customs, in total it cost me over 300.00 USD to get a $47.00 voltage regulator (the one that goes in the alternator). I learned my lesson quickly.

The question is .. we can get better price if we bought more than 6 turbo kits for example . ?

for diferent aplications .. just thought I'm the only one with 2H . ?

I'm just cuoting .. if I can buy one .. but just trying to keep under 1800 USD .. the hole pack !

Custom duties seem to be charged erratically. Some orders from Canada get charged and some not. The shipping is usually pretty high.

I don't think it is any better going the other way. I bought a BJ42 and had some work on it done prior to shipping it to the US. A set of Longfields got delayed in Canadian customs for one month. It was truly amazing. They charged a duty too.:mad:

I don't totally blame SOR for that. Shipping can be steep but the customs duties is courtesy of our federal government and brokerage is because the government want's their piece of the pie (I've had to pay more brokerage than the customs duties before because brokerage is sort of fixed). I found it is generally better if it comes through the mail but there is still no guarantee.

When i decided to put my BJ in good shape again i ordered many parts from SOR and other place. I soon realize only a few thing was worth importing them. For exemple my viair compressor. For exemple i needed a speedo cable. I think i saw it on SOR for 50 something. Even at this price it is not worth importing, i went and paid 100$ to the dealer...

If i'd have a large order let says 300-400$ more then i'd probably save 10-20%.

Being a business owner i can tell you things became real bad between our country (canada-usa) a few years ago. It was real easy and other then customs regular fee it wasn't any trouble. Don't know what happen, maybe the lumber dispute, but now its crazy..

Crazy..read this....i have many many rack mount servers being hosted in NY (i'm in Montreal CA) My rack is in a New York datacenter because of the geographical location and direct link to London. Well, each time i ship a 2k server to simply sit in my rack in NY i have to pay customs, fees AND taxes. Unfortunaly the only fix to that would be to have a office and address in the states, right now this is not a option. If i declare the value of the server, lets say 200$ i don't get to pay taxes but then some comapny like UPS won't take the package going to a business address if the package insured value is not the same has the declared value.....a real freakin mess..None sense, when two country with very similar level of business has to act like this. Once i shipped a 2k server with a declared value of 200$ and insurance of 2k and they lost the thing and didn't gave me more then 200$....


I'm going to get a turbo kit for my BJ. but Mostlikely in the spring. Right now i need OME spring and bushing, i already have the shocks. I should get that before Christmas.

I wonder if i drove down across the border get the kit installed on the truck and drive back? I'd need to find someone knowledgable about diresel/cruiser and turbo tho...I wouldn't risk a bad installation to save a few on customs fee and shipping..

The ONLY way they can do that is either reduce the price significantly, source from the USA/Canada (NAFTA) or lie on the customs invoice.
Naturally a group buy will have a lower brokerage fee but a percentage of duty doesn't change unless the bottom line changes.
 
f**k nafta. i may have a friend in for the group buy if its still a go. any details?
 
I'm not interested anymore coz I make my own turbo kit ( with intercooler :D ) and it's running fine right now .. ( not sure if this way is more cheap or not .. it's pretty slow but you learn a lot's ) :D
