2001 LC with Nav. Looking for a way to play tunes. The CD player craps out after about twenty minutes of playing. I would like a way to hook an iPhone up.

On my old e39, we had an adapter that plugged in lieu of the cd changer. Does no one make one of these?

I don't care about charging, I don't care about the nav or the cd changer, i just want to be able to drive and have some accompaniment to my sonorous singing.

I've searched and I can't believe that I keep coming up with the same answer and that is that I'm SOL. Is the only solution putting an additional unit in below the nav unit?

Grom Audio, they make some basic Bluetooth, USB, and high-speed Sat/Nav integrtion connectors for the LC and LX Nav units.

I have no direct experience with this, but run some more searches. It is a very common question with lots of threads. In addition to using the Grom as a search, try vaistech sl3b and USA spec toy45 for searches. You should get many threads to read.

Thanks for the response. I though that I had read that my era model had no offering for the cd changer. I will look into the others.

Yeah there are plenty of threads on this, but I think the two more popular options are Vaistech and GROM (I'm installing my Vaistech today, will post a review at some point).

Try searching Bluetooth, vaistech, or Grom and see what you come up with.

They seem to be able to put aux connectors into many factory systems. My system was not listed on their website but when I contacted them they said they could do it.

I just tried GROM, but for some reason it wouldn't work on my 01 LX. It could be that the external port on the back of the radio was shot, but I could never get it to the GROM mode by pressing Disc.

I did use isimple isfm2351 and replaced the sirius xm fm modulator that the previous owner had that didn't seem to work anymore. Works perfect! I was worried about sound clarity, but I think it's pretty good. I believe isimple has a few products out there. If you could get GROM working, I think sound quality wise, it would be the best option.

The reason I originally posted was that I thought that the '01 Nav models didn't/couldn't use an adaptor. I'm glad to find out this isn't true and you've all had some success. I appreciate the responses.

That's a good point, I'm not familiar enough to say one way or the other. However, I just installed my Vaistech and I'm pretty impressed thus far. I'd check their website to see if there is something for your '01, certainly doesn't hurt to check.

The USA Spec unit works fantastic on my 2002 Cruiser with NAV. Can listen to BT music and do hands-free phone calls. Was probably the most useful $150 I spent on the vehicle.
